Husky - CNOOC Madura Limited (HCML) emphasized that they always carry out operational activities according to applicable regulations, including in the development of BD Fields and supporting facilities in Semare Village, Kraton District, Pasuruan Regency.
This assertion was conveyed by the HCML in response to allegations of demonstrations on behalf of the Eastern Region Community Consultation Forum (FORMAT) that HCML worked without permission.
"As a KKKS (Cooperation Contract Contractor) carrying out state duties, HCML is under the supervision and control of the Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities (SKK Migas).
Therefore, HCML must carry out operations by applicable government regulations. So it is not true that we are carrying out activities without permission, ”said HCML Head of Relations Hamim Tohari to reporters.
As a KKKS engaged in the upstream oil and gas industry, the main task of HCML is to find new reserves and increase national oil and gas production. Therefore, the responsibility of HCML is up to the point of delivering the gas in Semare Village, Kraton District, Pasuruan Regency, East Java.
"The distribution of gas from the point of delivery on the consumer side no longer enters the realm of the upstream industry, including HCML.
The installation construction activity from the point of delivery in Semare has entered the realm of the downstream industry, ".
Hamim Tohari added, in the trading system for the oil and gas industry in Indonesia, the upstream and downstream industries are strictly separated. It is not quite right if HCML is related to the technical construction of the gas transmission pipeline.
"We have also planted 6,600 mangroves. This is related to the accusation of destroying the environment by cutting mangroves, "explained Tohari.
Hamim Tohari explained that the mangrove cutting carried out on the coastline of Semare Village, Kraton District, which was carried out in May 2016 was by the government's permit.
"The logging activities and the mangrove replanting plan are not only by the permit but also based on directions from the Environmental Agency of Pasuruan Regency.
According to the provisions for one mangrove tree trunk, 10 new mangrove trees will be replaced, "he said.
He added that mangrove planting activities will be carried out in collaboration with the Semare Samudera Mangrove Farmers Group. In fact, HCML has signed an MoU with the Samudera Semare Mangrove Farmers Group.
"A total of 6,600 mangrove trees will be planted. The planting activity will be carried out this October. Just waiting for the mangrove seeds to arrive, ”said Hamim Tohari.
