All activities in Semare are based on government regulations

    The demonstration action of the Semare Kraton residents of Pasuruan Regency on behalf of the Eastern Region Community Consultation Forum (Format) regarding the rejection of the project from PT Husky CNOOC Madura Limited (HCML) because there was no permit responded by HCML.

    HCML Head of Relations Hamim Tohari conveyed all of his activities in developing BD fields and supporting facilities in Semare Village, Rejoso District, Pasuruan Regency based on applicable regulations.

"Regarding the accusation by the residents on behalf of Format during yesterday's demonstration, it is not true. HCML in carrying out operational activities in accordance with applicable government regulations.

    According to him, the main task of HCML is finding new reserves and increasing national oil and gas production. Therefore, the responsibility of HCML is up to the point of delivering the gas in Semare Village, Kraton District, Pasuruan Regency. The distribution of gas from the point of delivery to the consumer is no longer under the authority of the upstream industry, including HCML. But it becomes the authority of Downstream Oil and Gas

"The installation construction activity from the point of delivery in Semare is under the authority of the downstream industry. Hence, in the trading system for the oil and gas industry in Indonesia, the upstream and downstream industries are strictly separated. Whereas HCML is related to the technicality of gas transmission pipeline construction, it is not appropriate, ".

    Regarding HCML's environmental destruction due to mangrove cutting, Hamim Tohari emphasized that the mangrove cutting was carried out on the coastline of Semare Village, Kraton District, Pasuruan Regency, which was carried out in May 2016 according to the permit given by the government.

"The felling and mangrove replanting plan is in accordance with the BLH permit from Pasuruan Regency. One mangrove tree will be replaced with 10 new mangrove trees. The planting activity will be carried out again last October. In total, around 6,600 mangrove trees will be planted, ”said Hamim Tohari.
